Are you ready to shape a landscape where you can "plant" trees and firmly establish figures and buildings? Think of FusionFiber like a layer of top soil on your model train layout.
Watch our Getting Started Video using True Scene BULK. The same techniques apply to our new FusionFiber:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Io0eYCdwYtU
Follow these simple steps!
PREPARE FusionFiber MIXTURE
To tint FusionFiber, add acrylic craft paint to warm water and mix thoroughly until desired color appears. Mix (with your hand or a mixing stick) approximately equal parts FusionFiber and the tinted water to achieve a pasty consistency. Make sure there is no standing water in the bottom of your mixing container. If mixture looks too wet, add more FusionFiber. Let stand 30 minutes before spreading. NOTE: can be mixed with just warm water if White is the desired base as for a winter snow scene. Or, mix and spread white and apply paints after layer is dried.
Most hobbyists mix 3-4 cup batches. When mixing the whole 1 lb. bag, add FusionFiber to about 24 oz. of tinted warm water. Continue to add water, a little at a time, to reach spreading consistency.
STEP 2:
APPLY TO PREPARED SURFACE
Mixed FusionFiber can be applied directly to wood, cardboard, Homasote, white beaded foam or other porous materials. When using pink or blue foam board or non-porous material, cover surface with strips of adhesive drywall tape to spread more easily. Drop mounds of FusionFiber mixture on surface and spread about 1/8" thick with your hand, spatula, or another spreading instrument.

STEP 3:
ADD SCENERY DETAILS
Watch a segment of our video - How to Make a Meadow Scene:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGMzchFLN-w
For a grassy, meadow scene, use 2 or more colors of flock. Sprinkle darkest shade first, followed by progressively lighter colors, directly onto the wet FusionFiber layer; mist with wet water* after each color. Next, add artificial or natural clump foliage, shrubs, rail ties, logs, etc. Thoroughly moisten each piece of artificial material before gently pressing it into the "earth" you've just created! Allow to dry for a day before adding stem-like materials. Using a toothpick, make a hole to "plant" stems.
Note that drying time can be up to one week depending on application thickness, humidity, and sub-base. Average drying time is 2-3 days.
*Wet water reduces the surface tension of the water and allows all the scenic materials to be more easily absorbed in to the fibre base and "grabbed" by the adhesive that's in our product. Make a batch of wet water using 2-3 drops of dish detergent in a 32 oz. spray bottle.

Landscape after various flocks and ground cover were added to FusionFiber "top soil" layer.
"FINISHED" LANDSCAPE!
Your end result is a realistic, settled look. No more buildings, trees, or figures just sitting "atop" your base!
BUT, if you want to add more details to your scene even months later, just rehydrate the area by misting it with wet water* and new scenic detail material can be added!
NEED TO MOVE or WANT TO MAKE BIG CHANGES? You can totally saturate a scene and scrape away an area you no longer need!
Landscape designs and methods for using True Scene's FusionFiber are limited only by your imagination!
